BiOGRAPHY
Shoom has spent over 15 years navigating the ever-evolving landscape of music and media. Born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey to British-Guyanese parents, Shoom's journey has been a blend of creativity, technological savvy, self-discovery, and cultural infusion. Graduating from Monmouth University, Shoom initially delved into traditional broadcast journalism at Clear Channel (now iHeartRadio). There, skills in crafting captivating narratives and engaging content were honed, laying the groundwork for what would become a lifelong love affair with storytelling. The pivotal experience in the digital realm began with the Loud Speakers Network, where Shoom expanded production expertise and contributed to the success of groundbreaking podcasts such as "The Combat Jack Show" and "The Read." It was during this time at the network that Shoom launched a podcast, "In the Mix with Shoom," a platform showcasing the ability to recognize emerging talent and curate engaging content. This venture not only solidified a reputation as an innovative content creator but also caught the attention of Apple Music's Beats 1, leading to a subsequent role where Shoom played a crucial part in producing daily live broadcasts and pitching tracks like Kiiara's "Gold," which became the most-streamed song and breakout artist of 2016 on the platform. The following year, during an academic stint at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, House of Shoom was conceived. What started as a thesis project for a master's became a global platform for creative collaboration, championing cross-cultural dialogue and nurturing emerging artists, curating its first two events in London. Now, as Associate Director of Digital Operations at The Orchard, Shoom leads the Deliveries team, spearheading transformative projects to streamline digital delivery and optimize operational efficiency, marking a pivotal evolution in the distribution of music worldwide. Through every chapter of this life and career, music remains an underlying driving force in all the places Shoom has been and how they got there. The mission persists: to push boundaries and enrich the music industry. The ethos is driven by authentic creative expression, foresight, and a belief in music's transformative power.
